Exhibition Centre

There are a number of exhibition centres in London. If you're travelling for a convention or other event, book a room at The Montcalm luxury hotel.

Excel

First opened in 2000, the ExCeL London is located in the Docklands region of East London. It is a popular space for large events and hosted the G20 Summit twice.

It's also the home of annual events like UK Wedding Shows and the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show, not to mention the twice-yearly London MCM Expo.

The O2 Arena

This North Greenwich venue, originally known as the Millennium Dome, is one of the world's most popular music arenas. It hosts a range of big-name acts every year, not to mention the Brit Awards, comedy shows and sporting events.

The O2 also offers smaller halls, perfect for exhibitions and conferences. It's easily accessible from London City Airport and is served by the Jubilee tube line and a number of bus and rail routes.

Earl's Court

Situated in the Royal Borough of Kensington, this is the largest exhibition venue in central London and it hosts annual events like the Ideal Home Show and London Film and Comic Con.

The main building, which opened in 1937, features an Art Deco facade. The 1983 addition, known as Earl's Court 2, has a sweeping barrel-vaulted ceiling and 17,000 square feet of floor space.

Museums

The Tate Modern

One of the most popular of London's art museums - seeing more than 4.5 million visitors a year - the Tate Modern is situated on the bustling South Bank in the former Bankside Power Station.

The building's towering chimney and turbine hall are recognisable landmarks and the venue offers a tantalising selection of works on permanent display, as well as regularly changing exhibitions.

The British Museum

Established in 1753, the British Museum is known around the world for its fabulous collection of some 13 million objects, including ancient artefacts and magnificent works of art.

Located in Bloomsbury, the main building has a Greek Revival design and was constructed in during the mid 1800s. The Reading Room - a large round building that once housed the British Library is now the centrepiece of the glass-ceilinged Great Court.

The National Portrait Gallery

Situated on St Martin's Lane, near Trafalgar Square the National Portrait Gallery offers visitors a fascinating combination of history and art.

The works on display are all portraits of important figures of British history. Indeed, the collection includes the Chandos portrait of William Shakespeare and some of the best-known portrayals of members of the monarchy.
