‘Live Life Adventurously’ is the motto of Go Ape, and that vision is certainly realized at the Battersea centre, where the highest obstacle crossings are double the height of those at the other centres. Many are also twice as long, making them twice as wobbly – and twice the fun!
Go Ape is the UK’s number one forest adventure, a collection of zipwires, swings and treetop crossings which let you imagine what life is like for the kings of the jungle. Now, for the first time, Go Ape has brought the experience to the heart of London, with its centre in Battersea. Battersea Park is also home to Go Ape’s Treetop Junior adventure, aimed at little Tarzans between the ages of 6 and 12 – although if your child is outside this range then they can still participate, provided they are over one metre tall. The Junior adventure promises an hour of fun-filled adrenaline for your kids, as they swing through the trees, negotiate crossings, and finish with an awesome zip wire. If you’re in London celebrating your child’s birthday, then this is a great place to do just that, with little monkeys under ten years old costing just £18 per person. You can also book added extras to make the day even more special, such as a party bag containing a medal, a yo-yo, pencils, a monkey mask, stickers and a certificate of achievement. T-shirts are also available as a souvenir of your day, and you can rent out the Forest Shelter for a great picnic once you’ve worked up an appetite in the treetops. Battersea Park’s central location makes it easily accessible from your hotel, The Montcalm London city at the brewery hotel .
Go Ape is all about fun and adventure, but safety of customers is the number one priority. For this reason, there are certain limitations on who is allowed to participate. The minimum age for Tree Top Adventure is 10 years, the minimum height is 1.4m (4ft 7”), and the maximum weight is 20.5 stone (130kg). 16 & 17 year olds are able to supervise themselves, but under 16 year olds must be supervised by an adult. Supervising adults must participate in the Treetop Adventure and cannot supervise form the ground. An adult (over 18) must be present for every 4 children under 13 on the course. 13-15 year olds require at least one adult per group to supervise, either on the ground or while participating. For an adult to supervise form the ground, they do not need to book in advance or pay. Zip Trekking adventure has a minimum age of 13 years, a minimum weight of 7 stone (45kg), and a maximum weight of 19.5 stone. Go Ape requires a degree of physical fitness, but as long as you’re able to climb a rope ladder you’ll be fine. It’s not advised that pregnant women take part, although ultimately the choice is yours; seek the advice of a doctor before booking.
