Celebrate the diversity of cuisine offered by the capital’s eateries when the London Restaurant Festival returns in October. Hundreds of restaurants throughout the city will be taking part in London Restaurant Festival 2013, which runs from October 3 to 21. It will be an opportunity for them to showcase their culinary skills and service levels, and give customers an affordable first class dining experience.
There will be two main elements: events and festival menus. The festival menus are specially created by the participating restaurants and are available to customers throughout the festival period. It’s a great opportunity to try out new restaurants and also see how creative, sustainable and delicious their food can be.
Events taking place during London Restaurant Festival include a Tapas Tour, in which diners can travel between tapas bars, and sample a tapa and a drink in each using the festival’s Tapas Passport. Participating venues include Fernandez & Wells, Copita and Barrica and El Pirata.
Another festival event is Eat Film, which takes place at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly on October 7. Join your host Jonathan Ross to watch his favourite movie, Spirited Away (complete with gourmet popcorn), before enjoying a three-course dinner inspired by the film.
If you like Italian food, get on the Cicchetti Trail. This event takes in six Italian restaurants that serve good cicchetti (Italian small snacks) in one day. Participants include Massimo, Polpo Covent Garden, and Mele Pere.
Japanese Journey is an event that gives you the chance to visit six Japanese restaurants in one day, including Inamo, Tonkotsu, Shoryu and Sake No Hana.
