Millions of people all over the word travel to London for one reason or another, one of the most in demand and sought out experiences that people travel for has to be the West End, New York has Broadway and We here in London have the world famous West End. It is a famous attraction for the simple reason it is so varied, there are so many shows for you to book that you will be spoilt for choice and it might be difficult to choose just one. Here I have put together a list of 5 of the top productions that are now available in the West End.

The Lion King –
This multi award winning performance has just been recognised as the most successful theatre ever to be staged. It has taken over £3.8billion and has over taken The Phantom of the Opera, by Andrew Lloyd Webber. We all know the story of The Lion King it is Walt Disney’s most successful screen plays, and to still be in demand and having the same success as it did when it was first aired in 1997 is something. This is why this is a must see and is at the top of my list when it comes to the West End, it is fun for the whole family and a great way for everyone to be able to enjoy the theatre together.

Les Miserables –
If you want to see a show stopping performance and you want to sit on the edge of your seat then join the 70 million others, across 42 countries who have witnessed Les Miserables on stage, it is approaching it’s 30th anniversary and is just as in demand today as it was when it first opened. Being set against the back drop of 19th century France, Les Miserables tells a captivating story of broken dreams, unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption. This is an enduring tribute to the survival of the human spirit. A story of a convict on the run who falls in forbidden love.

Mamma Mia –
We have all heard the songs, many of us sing along, and we have most certainly seen the film, so that leaves us with the West End production. What can I say, it is fun for all the family, and over 54 million people around the world agree. It is a feel good show that has the backdrop of a Greek Island, when the 20 year old daughter of a single mom wants to find out who her biological father is on the eve of her wedding, inviting all three potential fathers to her wedding, behind her mother’s back, things are not going to run smoothly. The story is told through the songs of the world famous ABBA. For a fun and feel good night for all the family, for friends, and hen’s, do not miss your opportunity.

Wicked –
Another world-wide favourite that the whole family can enjoy, Wicked is a twist of the highly successful Wizard Of Oz. When the wicked witch is not evil but miss understood, and with a compassionate wizard who victimises large groups in order to remain a powerful man! One for the children and adults alike, the music can be enjoyed by the children whilst the adults can appreciate the spin that is being played out. I highly recommend you pull out your red shoes and head to have fun with the ‘Scarecrow, Tin Man &The Cowardly Lion’.

Phantom Of The opera –
For the greatest Love story of all time, this magnificent show will captivate you, it is a timeless story that will never get old, and heading into it’s 29th year on stage The phantom is just as popular today. I agree with the reviewer who wrote “The music is absolutely beautiful and so haunting, the sets and the costumes are just magical” .. There really isn’t much to say about The Phantom, the name says it all.

It goes without saying that the West End offers you some of the most captivating and thrilling performances known to man, I have chosen to recommend these five titles to make a decision easier on yourself when it comes to booking a West End show. I have tried to include something for everyone, action, thrilling, engaging, fun, exciting, suitable for the whole family. There really is something for everyone to enjoy and these 5 are some of the biggest in the world not just in the West End.

Though I must suggest that you make early reservations, not only to avoid disappointment, but often last minute ticket bookings at the box office can be more expensive, if you don’t want to miss out on a fantastic evening then make your reservations sooner rather than later. Also don’t forget that each of the shows is located at a different theatre across the West End, to check out which one the please log onto each of the official websites.
